Show him the LOVE

02/13/17 Compass Church

With this “love” holiday coming up – it is always so hard to figure out something that will really demonstrate love. I mean every man loves his wife in sexy lingerie. So that’s a given. But be serious – its only actually on for a few minutes.

How about a gift that keeps on giving and can become a wonderful habit in your marriage?

Pray for your spouse!

Here are 6 ways to pray and develop a closer more intimate relationship.

  1. Ask how you can pray for him. What’s on his heart? What are the desires of his heart? (Ps 37:4)The question also turns his mind to a spiritual view of what’s going on in his world. Whatever his response is – be diligent to lift that request to the Father. Be ready for God to give you some special insights to your husband’s spirit, which can draw you into deeper intimacy and love with him.
  2. Protection for his heart – the well spring of life. (Proverbs 4:23- Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life.) There are so many influences fighting for priority in his world. The enemy is tricky. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood – but spiritual forces in this dark world. Pray that he will keep the breastplate of righteousness (right living) God gives His children in place over his heart. Actually pray he will keep the full armor of God in place! – Ephesians 6
  3. His actions – pray that all his actions will be pleasing to the Lord. Galatians 6:4 says “Each one should test his own actions.” Pray he will remember that God is with him all the time everywhere, whatever he is doing. Pray that he will remember God’s promise to never leave or forsake. (Heb. 13:5b – “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”)
  4. Pray over him – physically-  pray for his safety, and health. Ask God to intervene in anything that is going on physically. Even the aches and pains that sometimes come with being in “the Second Half’. Its kind fun to put your hands on him (awake or asleep) – various places on his body and ask for God’s favor, and give thanks for the man God gave you. Pray that he will always honor God with his body. (1Cor 6:20- You were bought with a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
  5. His Actions - pray that all his actions will be pleasing to the Lord.
  6. Therefore honor God with your body.)

We can get caught up in our own view of the world and how things affect us, but when we take the time and purposefully pray for our Valentine’s lives, we can give him a gift no one else can. A gift that keeps on giving.

How will you present this gift?

Happy Valentine’s Day!
